Our Play - I'm not sure what more I can say here. If your child is not delivering their lines with great expression and projecting their voice past the end of your hallway, then there is still work to do at home each night. (They are not doing better here at school than they are at your house)
If you are wondering what I am talking about, here goes. Part of your child's nightly homework is to practice their lines and all songs (the Chorus parts and their character's song). At this point, exactly two weeks from our performance day of Monday, May 20, everyone should have all their lines and the lyrics they will sing on all songs completely memorized ("off the page") so that we are working on expression, phrasing, projection, and staging.
Costumes and props won't really matter to our audiences if we don't tell the story well.
Besides getting a good night's sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and arriving at school on time, your child's only homework this week is working on their part in our play. This is a responsibility we have to each other - we sink or swim together, and it's not too late for us have four wonderful performances in two weeks.
But EVERYONE needs to buckle down and practice at home every night. It's not fair that there are only a handful of students so far that are taking their responsibility seriously.
PLEASE do all you can to support/encourage/prod/beg/threaten (whatever works best with your child) so that they are prepared on May 20th. Sadly, I'm coming up short here at school.
