First trimester report cards came home today in the Thursday folder. In the report card envelope you have a note from me inviting you to sign up for a parent-teacher (and student, if you wish) conference. The online sign-up is now live. Please click on SignUpGenius to go straight to the form. I would enjoy meeting with every family, so I've created more than 26 slots, hoping that you will find a time that suits you. Please email me if you are having trouble with the site.
The Calabash of the Winds - We are SO looking forward to performing for you, our parents and families, in the Hoover High School auditorium, tomorrow at 8:30am. You will have the best seats in the house, as the Keppel student body will attend later in the morning. Please allow time to park your car and be seated by 8:30am.
This is the culmination of our first trimester arts class, Theater with Mrs. Gilbert. The show, America's Melting Pot, includes third graders presenting stories and second graders presenting songs from a few of the many groups that have helped create our country. Our class has the honor of closing the show with a story from Polynesia, The Calabash of the Winds. As you know, students are to wear khaki on the bottom and a bright solid-colored top. The rest of their costume is here at school. Thanks to all parents who helped provide our headpieces, and to Tatiana's and Ava's moms for assisting with our grass skirts and lava lava. PLEASE get to school ON TIME tomorrow --- thanks! CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) is the current state-wide testing program. Beginning in third grade all students take this test in the spring. Today we logged onto the CAASPP Practice and Training Site for students. We will be taking the first interim assessments next week during our Chromebook times on Tuesday and Thursday, but this training site allows students to click around on the test, trying out the various tools, and generally becoming familiar with the format.
