Student Playwrights - Students groups of three or four have been working collaboratively to (first) write the story of how their California native animals met, and (second) turn the story into a script. They are using Google Docs through their Google account for this project, and students are working both in class when we have the Chromebooks (yesterday and today this week) and at home. Most groups have finished the first draft of their script. We are fighting the "one and done" mentality --- the idea that the first draft is also the final draft. In fact, there are many types of revision, including:
- add more detail to dialogue
- add actions of characters, in parentheses
- add dialogue that reveals the character's inner thinking
- capitalize names
- start sentences with a capital
- end sentences with proper punctuation
- work on spelling to get as close as you can on words you don't yet know
