The school year is over for kiddos, but I'm still working, so, fear not --- your child's writing portfolio will be on its way to you very soon! (Abigail - Mary Z already have theirs; Melvin - Xochitl will have theirs tomorrow, but I'm toast at the moment. I'll finish binding them in the morning, and write a longer FINAL blog post tomorrow. Do note that the report card envelope (in the Thursday folder) also contains the final i-Ready diagnostic report and a year-end letter from me (on yellow paper).
Bring a Backpack on Tuesday! Please make sure that your child comes to school with his/her backpack tomorrow. We've still got a few things to bring home, in addition to Thursday folder with report card and i-Ready results. See green handout coming home today with reminders for our class party tomorrow. As stated, parents are welcome to join us beginning at 10:00am.
Just a few reminders for the end of the year:
Yearbooks - Students who preordered yearbooks received them today. Please make sure your child writes their name on their yearbook before bringing it back to school --- they all look the same! There are a few extra copies for sale: tomorrow, Friday morning under the marquee out front. Cost is $35.00, cash or check. When they're gone, they're gone!
Class Party - In between Mystery Science activities, we made plans for our class party:
Parents are welcome to join us for all or part. Tentatively, we plan to start about 10:00am and party until dismissal at 12:07pm. Yes, we WILL be having an end-of-the-year class party. It will be on the last day of school, which is next Tuesday, June 11. That's a minimum day, by the way. School dismisses at 12:07pm. Report cards will come home that day in the Thursday folder, unless your child "owes" something. No one in room 1321 has any outstanding library books, so the only thing I can think of would be a balance in the cafeteria. Some statements went home today --- please make sure that your child's account is paid up.
Tomorrow we will, as a class, settle on what we want to do next Tuesday, so check this blog tomorrow for details. Don't be surprised if your little thespian comes home today and collapses. Performing The Environmental Show three times was quite taxing. It was also quite rewarding! Beginning at morning recess, students AND teachers were stopping us, complimenting us on our performance. Truly, I am so very proud of each and every student. As you saw for yourself if you were able to attend one of our performances, the kids really did an amazing job. Thank you, parents, for your support: feeding lines, assisting with costumes, and attending a performance. Mrs. Faieta attempted to film the play. If it turns out, I will post a link here.
We look forward to seeing all families TONIGHT at our performance of The Environmental Show in the cafeteria. Students report to the classroom in costume at 6:00pm. The Virginia gate will be unlocked. Parents should go straight to the cafeteria to get your seat.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) we will perform our play THREE TIMES during the day. Students will leave their props backstage after tonight's performance, but will wear their costumes home. Students are to wear their costume to school tomorrow so we're ready to go. Our first show starts at 8:30am. Family members who are unable to attend tonight may come to one of tomorrow's performances (8:30am, 10:15am, 1:15pm) but please sit toward the back on the side, and allow time to park car and sign in at front office and get a visitor's sticker before coming to the cafeteria.
