To be clear, any number + 0 is that same number. Zero is the identity number. What you mean to be saying is that the place value shifts. 2 tens x 8 = 16 tens, which is the number 160.
Social Studies - Students took the Lesson 3 test online and they have their results. There were 14 points possible. Your student can show you their test results on their TCI account (via Clever) On a sad note, only 10 of 25 students completed the two online games that were assigned for review last Thursday and again last night.
Finally, classroom behavior in general is getting progressively worse by the day. Not all students, of course, but increasingly students are talking through instruction, playing or talking during work time, both cooperative and independent times, and there are reports of foul language and unfair play at recess. Our class has not received a tidy table ticket (to put in a drawing for extra recess) in a long time. Too many students operate as if the rules/directions are for other people but not for them.
You can help at home by:
- not allowing your child to rudely interrupt you unless it's an emergency ("but I want to tell you something" is not an emergency in my book)
- requiring them to pick up after themselves always
- sticking to a system of natural (when possible) and always logical consequences for misbehavior and/or poor judgement. Do not rob your child of the opportunity to learn lessons the hard way - those are often the lessons that stick best.
One last thing - 3rd graders need to be able to tie their own shoes. Really! Please help your kiddo to master this kinder/first grade skill.
