St. Patrick's Day was yesterday (a little trivia - saints' days are celebrated on the day of their death instead of the day of their birth, with one exception - email me if you want to know who the exception is). But I've got two items for you.
Some of you have already found the first: a Newsela article entitled, "Snake bite in Ireland" that I added to your Newsela binder yesterday. What does a snake bite have to do with St. Patrick's Day? You'll have to read the article to find out! Don't forget to take the online quiz after reading it, and to go back into the text to find the answers before you submit them.
The second item is one of Doug's Mystery Science minis, How is a rainbow made? And yes, there is a hands-on activity at the end - yay! You'll need an adult to help you set it up, but you can do it anytime. Please email me if you can't get to the extension activity and the worksheet. I'm thinking that you should see it at the end, or bottom, of the student link, but I can't be sure from my end.
And now, to Word Study. The saying, or idiom, a day late and a dollar short, is another way of saying that the effort made is not good enough, or you did the thing too late. In this case, I actually believe that my effort at St. Patrick's Day activities, while a day after St. Patrick's Day is NOT too late (you can still do both of them) and, considering we're all still on spring break, it's not really too little effort. But I couldn't resist the urge to slip in a little word study - haha!
I hope that this finds you safe and healthy! I miss you all!
Love,
Mrs. Bamberger
