Instrumental Music - We had a real treat this afternoon as we attended the spring concert for Keppel's instrumental music program. Many of the performers just started playing last fall, and they sounded really good! We recognized many of the tunes, includig Hot Cross Buns and Merrily We Roll Along, both of which we learned to play on our recorders on Keppel Arts Day. We enjoyed hearing the various instruments that we learned about and tried playing at our field trip to the Hollywood Bowl in January. As you may know, next year your child has the opportunity to take up an instrument here at Keppel. The school provides a free weekly lesson and low-cost instrument rental.
i-Ready Diagnostic Testing - Next week, once the fifth grade has finished their state CAASPP testing, we will have our Chromebooks and headphones back, and students will be completing the end-of-year diagnostic test in math and reading. As I have on the previous tests, I will send home the parent report of your child's results.
It is important that all students take these tests under the same conditions, and so students have been instructed not to log onto i-Ready until after 3:30am, as the diagnostic test is available until then. If a student logs on and finds the test, please do NOT begin the test at home. I've deleted those who mistakenly started the test yesterday. The lessons should be available to all students after 3:30pm each day.
