How are pledges accounted? Students (and more than a few adults!) are confused about APEX donation accounting. There are two ways to pledge:
- per lap
- flat fee
If you pledge a flat fee, e.g., $20.00, you will pay that amount regardless of the number of laps your child runs.
Student incentive prizes are based on per lap totals. A student with $1.00 per lap in pledges will earn those prizes. Their parent may end up paying anywhere between $26.00 and $36.00, depending on student performance at the fun run, but the student receives the prize for $1.00 per lap.
Flat fee donations are accounted as follows: $30.00 flat fee donation = $1.00 per lap. so a student with $20.00 in flat fee donations has not earned a prize yet --- s/he needs to solicit another $10.00 in flat fee donations to earn the $1.00 per lap prize.
Remember that, in addition to daily leadership lessons and exercise, APEX is a fundraiser for MKS, which underwrites our teaching artists. This year that includes Mrs. Gilbert (theater), Mrs. Zierhut (visual art), Mrs. Kim (Korean soh goh drumming), and Mrs. Neel (dance). MKS also underwrites our academic intervention program.
"Thanks" to you and your family for supporting Keppel's students through the APEX Fun Run.
