We are excited to be meeting our Kindergarten Buddies tomorrow morning! Last week, we drew pictures of ourselves with them doing some fun activities. There was a lot of guesswork since we don't know them yet - haha! Please ask your child their buddy's name - that they should remember.
Recess - The news twist/problem that was reported today was foul language on the soccer field - specifically, use of the "f" word by a number of players. The class said they had not heard anyone in our class using that word - great news if it's true. But we all know there have been multiple issues with soccer this year, and if those who play are not successful in holding themselves accountable to the Keppel rules and good sportsmanship, it is likely that soccer will no longer be played at recesses.
We (1321) hope this doesn't come to pass as many of us like to play soccer at school. But we know that trash-talking about other school mates based on which soccer star they like, or anything else, for that matter, is definitely not permitted. We came to the conclusion that simply following the rules ourselves will not likely prevent soccer from being taken away. We will need to be upstanders, speaking up whenever we hear or see another school mate breaking the Keppel rules/norms. Even though it might not seem fair, everyone will lose soccer if even a few students continue to behave inappropriately.
Thanks in advance for any support you can give your child on maintaining positive interactions on the playground and everywhere at Keppel.
