Before lunch, we were visited by Sergio Garcia, a stuntman in Hollywood. We were so interested to learn about all the training he has to do and he shared photos of himself in the Ironman suit (he was Robert Downing, Jr's stuntman) and other photos in which he was jumping off a 3-story tower (into a giant air pillow) and even a photo of him on fire!
After lunch we had fun in the music room with Mrs. Acitelli and then learned about vocal harmonization from Mrs. Manoukian, a Keppel mom. We enjoyed her songs as we learned about melody and harmony, and the importance of warming up vocal chords before singing.
We were sorry that COVID-19 protocols prevented us from attending a concert by the Hoover HS Jazz Band (the all-school concert is usually the final event in Art Day). But thanks to the hard work of many MKS parents, we had a great day nonetheless.
Report Cards in Thursday Folder - The second trimester report card is in today's Thursday folder. Please return the envelope tomorrow (but keep the report card).
Parent-Teacher Spring Conferences - There is a note in the report card envelope inviting parents wish to sign up for a conference the week we return to school (March 24-27). Click here to access the online SignUpGenius form. Please sign up with your child's name since many parents and children do not share a last name.
Also in today's Thursday folder is a flyer from the district (lavender) and a letter from me (white) regarding the upcoming CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) testing. I've also included a booklet of English language practice materials, in case you're looking for something to work on over the break (my letter explains more fully).
